there's something wrong with me! :D

So as many of you know, I have my fair share of health problems. Now I have a new one - and I have never been so happy to have something wrong with me.

I've been working out super consistently - even with a trainer - for several months now. Yet instead of losing weight and looking fabulous (which was obviously the plan), I started gaining weight. Like a pound a second. Or at least it seemed that way.

Many of my friends chalked it up to age and slowing metabolism, but I wasn't buying it. Okay, I was a little bit buying it, but I didn't want it to be true. So I went to my dr. and he said it was probably just a side effect of a medication I take. I didn't buy that, either, and asked him to test my thyroid. He thought it would turn out to be fine, but... (happy news on the way)... it wasn't! I have hypothyroidism, which means my thyroid isn't functioning fast enough, which means my metabolism isn't either.

So not only hooray, there's an actual problem, but hooray, there's an actual solution. Now I'm taking synthetic thyroid stuff that's supposed to speed things up. The only real drawback? I get to take it every day for the rest of my life.

Good times!

Isn't it nice, for once, not having the reason be some kind emotional or personality flaw...

I can blame sleep apnea for me not having the physique of Apollo, but not totally. I was hoping I could add hypothyroid to my "Its not my fault" list but the blood tests are negative.

Like you blog!!

Hooray :) (I kinda feel bad saying that considering, you know, it's a health problem and all, but in a world where a size 2 overrides healthy, I feel my "hooray" is totally acceptable!)

Most of my physical flaws come from genetics. No pill I can take for that one.
